IBM Quantum is leading the way to build useful quantum computers taking advantage of the latest methods in quantum error correction. Scaling up these systems to the sizes required for fault tolerance will require a change in how quantum computers have been built to date. You will be working on quantum hardware, electrical and mechanical studies for improving the reliability and scaling (RESCALE) our quantum systems. Good hands, excellent attitude and a sharp mind are required. There will be weekly updates to senior colleagues and other interns so communication is a big part of this.

We seek a graduate student working in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics or a related field with expertise in cryogenics, experimental quantum computing or adjacent fields. Superconducting materials or qubit experience, quantitative electromagnetic simulation experience, ways to compensate for CTE mismatch under 300 deg C excursions, and precision assembly.
