WHY BOX NEEDS YOU

As a Cloud & AI Finance Intern, you will play a key role in analyzing and forecasting Box's AI and cloud infrastructure spend. You will partner with Engineering, Product, and Finance teams to model token economics, evaluate model utilization, connect to large telemetry datasets in BigQuery, and deliver actionable insights that optimize Box's investments in cutting-edge AI and cloud technologies.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Token & AI Usage Modeling: Build, maintain, and refine quantitative models tracking AI token consumption, prompt/completion ratios, caching efficiencies, and model inference costs across multiple AI model providers and workloads. Cloud & Infrastructure Spend Analytics: Analyze compute, storage, and infrastructure spend trends across cloud platforms (e.g., GCP/AWS), identifying key cost drivers and variances against forecast.

Data Integration & BigQuery Pipelines: Query and connect to Google BigQuery data warehouses to extract large-scale usage telemetry, automate recurring data pipelines, and streamline financial reporting workflows. Model Utilization & Capacity Analysis: Track model usage patterns, agentic workflows, and API call volumes to evaluate infrastructure utilization, capacity planning, and unit economics (e.g., cost per query/workflow).

AI Trends & Benchmarking: Research emerging AI industry trends, agent architectures, and pricing/token economics to benchmark Box’s AI cost structures against industry standards. Dashboarding & Reporting: Design and build automated dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Google Looker Studio, Mode) to provide self-serve visibility into AI and Cloud spend for key stakeholders.

Education & Focus: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative discipline. Technical Skills

Proficiency in SQL and querying large relational datasets/data warehouses (experience with Google BigQuery is a strong plus). Advanced proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets with experience building structured quantitative or financial models. Analytical Problem Solver: Strong quantitative reasoning and structured thinking with the ability to transform high-volume telemetry and usage logs into clean, interpretable financial insights.

Proactive & Growth-Oriented: Eager to learn modern AI engineering concepts, take initiative on ambiguous projects, and leverage AI tools to automate workflows and amplify team impact. Effective Communicator: Able to articulate technical findings and financial takeaways clearly to both technical (Engineering) and business (Finance/Leadership) audiences.
