This ten-week program will take place in Singapore and is expected to run from June to August 2027. What you’ll do day-to-day

- Take on commercially impactful projects requiring rigorous analytical thinking and creative problem-solving. SBD roles span a range of skill sets, from qualitative research and project management to quantitative modeling and data analytics.
- For example, you might assess potential markets for our trading strategies, research and propose SEO/GEO improvements for our website, develop a cost-benefit model for new marketing content, or participate in internal consulting work, such as researching office expansion or generative AI adoption.
What we’re looking for
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, the ability to apply a range of skills to complex problems, and a willingness to tackle new and ambiguous challenges.
- Proactivity, comfort prioritizing multiple projects, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- An interest in learning about corporate strategy, capital markets, and economic issues; prior financial experience is not required.
- For roles focused on data analytics, familiarity with Python, R, SQL, and/or Power BI.
- Clear and concise communication, commercial thinking, rigorous analysis, the ability to drive projects forward, and exceptional attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to excel in a demanding, fast-paced environment. Examples may include leadership in campus organizations; prior experience related to consulting, venture capital, or strategy; contributions to advanced research projects; or previous publications in academic or popular media.
- Current enrollment in a four-year undergraduate or graduate degree program in any field of study; many of the D. E. Shaw group’s most successful candidates are highly accomplished students from non-finance backgrounds. Applicants to this internship are usually approaching their final year of full-time study.
