Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all. Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever. The high-volume manufacturing engineering team plays a key role in keeping Micron’s wafer fabs running safely, efficiently, and at scale.
We work at the center of manufacturing execution, balancing capacity, risk, and performance to support both development and high-volume production goals. If you enjoy solving complex operational challenges in a fast-paced environment, this is the place to make an impact! As an intern in the Area Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team, you will focus on strengthening area industrial engineering performance by reducing operational risk and building stable, predictable capacity.
Working closely with Manufacturing, Process Development, Industrial Engineering, and Operations, you will lead improving cycle time, throughput, and redundancy while supporting ambitious program timelines. This focus directly influences fab performance and development success.
Responsibilities
- Identify and resolve systemic area issues affecting throughput, cycle time, capacity, and operational risk, including supporting capacity planning and modeling.
- Analyze operational data and performance metrics to identify trends, assess risks, recommend improvement opportunities, and inform capital and capacity decisions.
- Partner with Industrial Engineering, Process Development, Manufacturing, and Operations to evaluate capacity scenarios, develop mitigation plans, and drive cross-functional projects.
- Lead and support strategic meetings and capacity-management activities, clearly communicating performance, risks, priorities, and recommended actions to stakeholders.
- Support safety and quality initiatives, including audits, good catches, and human QDR follow-up.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently a junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree or a first-year master’s student in Industrial Engineering or an equivalent semiconductor engineering field.
- Experience using SQL and Python for data analysis, modeling, or engineering applications through coursework, projects, internships, or research.
- Experience using Tableau or comparable visualization tools to analyze data and communicate trends and results.
- Experience using Generative AI tools to support data analysis, problem-solving, engineering productivity, or technical communication.
- Demonstrated ability through academic, project, or work experience to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience applying industrial engineering methods to capacity planning, cycle-time improvement, throughput optimization, operational risk reduction, or manufacturing systems.
- Experience analyzing semiconductor manufacturing, high-volume manufacturing, or other complex operational datasets.
- Experience developing data-driven capacity scenarios, risk assessments, dashboards, or recommendations using SQL, Python, Tableau, or Generative AI.
- Demonstrated leadership experience through academic projects, internships, research, student organizations, or other team-based activities.
- Experience presenting technical analyses, recommendations, or project results to cross-functional stakeholders.
