Cirrus Logic is looking for talented Summer and MEng Engineering Interns to join their experienced engineering teams in Edinburgh, Newbury and London, and work on industrial projects relevant to their degree. This exciting opportunity includes openings in the following areas:
- Embedded Firmware
- Software Tools
- Software Drivers
- System Test
Summer placements are running between June and September. MEng placements running between April and January. Departmental Summary:
- Embedded Firmware - You should be comfortable writing code in C/C++ and familiar with interpreted languages such as Python. With a strong background in signal processing, mathematical modelling, or algorithm design, you will collaborate with hardware designers to develop, debug, and optimize firmware, enabling the integration of innovative solutions onto commercial product platforms.
- Software Tools - You will work alongside experienced software, hardware and UX engineers to create cross-platform desktop tools and developer workflows using technologies such as Java and Python. Your work could contribute to interactive configuration and tuning tools, automation, plugins or APIs used by engineering teams across the company. Experience with Java, Python, C++, C# or desktop application development is helpful, but not a must.
- Software Drivers - You should be comfortable writing code in C and familiar with Linux kernel development, debugging tools, and automated test frameworks. With a strong background in computer science, electrical, electronic, or software engineering, and an interest in operating systems and embedded hardware, you will develop, debug, and optimize Linux (and MCU) device drivers, build and run automated tests through CI systems such as Jenkins, and work closely with cross-functional teams to enable reliable integration of commercial and consumer product platforms.
- System Test - You should be comfortable writing code in Python and familiar with object-oriented languages like C++. With a background in electrical, electronic, computer, or software engineering and an interest in embedded systems and hardware/software integration, you will develop and run automated functional, system, and stress tests on real hardware, from FPGA emulation through to silicon.

Requirements
- Enrolled in MEng or BEng in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Engineering or a related subject degree and on track for a 2:1 or better
- Some experience with development/evaluation of signal processing
- Good understanding of software development principles
- Interest in Embedded Systems
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Candidates for this role must meet U.S. export control eligibility requirements. Due to U.S. export control restrictions and the short duration of this internship, we are unable to sponsor or obtain deemed export licenses for this role. Cirrus Logic follows a 2+ day in-office work schedule but interns should expect to be in the office more often, up to 5 days per week, based on business needs and team preference.
