Position Overview

The Multifamily Division within Freddie Mac is searching for curious, motivated, and collaborative individuals to support the division's objectives, projects, and strategic initiatives. Freddie Mac Multifamily is a dynamic organization that provides interns with meaningful opportunities to gain exposure across the business while developing both technical and professional skills.

As a Multifamily Business Intern, you will work on real-world projects, interact with professionals across the organization, and develop a deeper understanding of the Multifamily housing finance industry. This internship offers an opportunity to build business acumen, strengthen communication skills, and gain experience working in a mission-driven organization that supports housing affordability nationwide.

Our Impact: Freddie Mac Multifamily helps deliver an ample supply of affordable rental housing by purchasing mortgages secured by apartment buildings with five or more units. We provide liquidity to the multifamily housing market by purchasing loans from lenders nationwide and securitizing them to support continued housing finance availability.

Our financing supports communities across the country—from large metropolitan areas to smaller markets—and serves a diverse population of renters, including students, working families, seniors, and underserved communities.

Your Impact

  • Engage with team members across the organization to develop a broad understanding of Multifamily business operations and how different teams contribute to Freddie Mac's mission.
  • Support business initiatives through research, analysis, reporting, project execution, and operational activities.
  • Develop professional writing skills by preparing briefs, summaries, presentations, and other business materials.
  • Assist with projects involving risk analysis, deal execution, loan accounting, portfolio management, reporting, and business operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve business challenges and contribute innovative ideas.
  • Build relationships with colleagues throughout the organization and gain exposure to the responsibilities of a full-time business professional
  • Take ownership of assignments and progressively develop the ability to work independently throughout the internship.
  • Seek out new challenges, ask thoughtful questions, and contribute to team success through initiative and curiosity.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing, Information Technology, Real Estate, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Expected graduation date of December 2027 – May 2028.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, volunteer involvement, campus activities, work experience, or other extracurricular participation is a plus.

Interns are paid at a set, non-negotiable hourly rate. The hourly rate for this role is $32/hr. Current Freddie Mac employees please apply through the internal career site. This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $54,000 - $82,000 . All interns positions are paid at an hourly rate, which can be found in the body of the job description.
