Position Overview

The Single-Family Business Technology Office (BTO) is seeking Software Developer Interns to help deliver technology solutions that support Freddie Mac’s business, modernize cloud capabilities, manage technology risk, and improve delivery speed and resiliency. Interns will gain firsthand experience through training, mentorship, Agile project work, application development, business intelligence, data visualization, reporting, and emerging technologies. Your Impact

  • Refine user stories, assess acceptance criteria, and support sprint work.
  • Develop or enhance code, unit tests, automation scripts, dashboards, and reports.
  • Assist with production support, root-cause analysis, releases, and bug resolution.
  • Collaborate in an Agile team and communicate the business value of technical solutions.
  • Use AI-enabled tools responsibly and participate in intern trainings, bootcamps, and hackathons.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • Expected graduation in December 2027 or May 2028; rising juniors preferred, with availability May–August 2027.
  • Introductory coding experience with Java, C/C++, Python, Angular/Spring Boot, or similar.
  • Exposure to Agile, business tools, reporting, analytics, Tableau, or data visualization preferred.

  • Interest in learning new technologies and Freddie Mac business processes.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts, data, and visualizations to business audiences.
  • AI literacy includes effective prompting and validation of AI-generated responses.

Interns are paid a set, non-negotiable rate. The hourly rate for this position is $32/hr. Current Freddie Mac employees please apply through the internal career site. This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $54,000 - $82,000 . All interns positions are paid at an hourly rate, which can be found in the body of the job description.
